Clinical Trial in Progress
- Replication of earlier Australian trial on group treatment for
depression
In 2000 an Australian clinical trial of our
non-pharmaceutical approach to treatment of depression demonstrated
that in excess of 80% of people suffering from moderate-to-severe
depression could have their depression completely resolved within days.

New Trials in 2007-8
We have two groups of depression patients in
Uruguay and Argentina ready to start replication of this earlier
Australian clinical trial of our new treatment program for depression,
utilising BMSA.
The principal investigator in Uruguay is Alvaro
Berrutti, MD and in Argentina, Alexander Andersson, MD. Dr Berrutti is
a psychiatrist and Dr Andersson a neurologist, both of them enjoying
great prestige in their countries.
The project will utilise a "four-blinded"
procedure:
-
Group A of
professionals will do the diagnosis.
-
Group B
will run the treatments.
-
Group C
will check results.
-
Group D
will do all statistical work.
There will not be any kind of information
permeating the different groups. Rather each group will do its specific
task (diagnosis, treatment, evaluation and stats) with zero input from
other groups.
Finally, yet another group of independent
professionals will do the peer review work of the study.
Whilst the study is not randomised, it will
nevertheless provide more rigorous examination of BMSA (or earlier
associated techniques) than has been undertaken previously. Excitingly,
brain mapping will be utilised to further examine outcomes.
